The rains held off and sunshine prevailed as approximately 200 citizens, volunteers, and community dignitaries united for an afternoon of good food and old-fashioned fellowship. SCEDC gave donated school uniforms and supplies to students and families in need. Afterwards, a tasty lunch, including hot dogs, chicken, hamburgers, and ribs hot off the grill was served while attendees danced to tunes spun by a DJ.
Among the dignitaries present were Shreveport City Councilwoman Joyce Bowman, City Marshal Charlie Caldwell, and Attorney W. James Singleton. The Caddo Sheriff’s and Shreveport Fire Department also were on hand to distribute goodie bags and to show off their heavy artilleries. Local television station KTAL-TV 6 brought a camera crew out to capture community relations at its best.
Children and the young-at-heart enjoyed face painting and a space walk, while car enthusiasts were treated to a presentation by the Shreveport Corvette Club. A special ‘thank you’ goes out to the host of volunteers, donors, and other attendees for making this year’s event another success!
